Masca is a cluster of stone houses perched on ridges above the ravine, surrounded by palm trees and jagged peaks. For centuries it was reachable only by mule tracks; today a famously narrow, hairpinned road connects it to Santiago del Teide and Buenavista.
Even if you don't hike, the village is worth the trip: viewpoints, small cafés and terraced gardens look straight down into the barranco.
Likely to sell out
